Design Narrative

House of Circles emerges from a deep respect for land, memory, and climate. Anchored within an ancestral plot enriched by mature trees, the design preserves the original building footprint to safeguard the site’s ecological continuity. Rather than imposing form, the architecture evolves through careful negotiation with its surroundings.

The narrative is shaped by air and light as primary design drivers. With limited scope for expansion, the house is reimagined as a porous system, where passive strategies allow natural elements to move freely through space. Vertical ventilation shafts function as breathing cores, drawing air inward and upward, ensuring thermal comfort while reducing reliance on mechanical systems.

Perforated surfaces become instruments of climate control and spatial expression. The southwest jali screen mediates harsh sunlight, transforming it into shifting patterns of light and shadow that animate the interiors. Vertical louvers on the eastern edge frame outdoor spaces, filtering morning light and creating layered visual depth. Together, these elements choreograph a continuous dialogue between interior and exterior.

The house is conceived as a living environment in flux, responding to the rhythms of the day—cool, shaded, and ventilated in the afternoon; softly illuminated and expansive in the morning. Solid and void, light and shadow, openness and enclosure are carefully balanced to shape spaces that are both functional and experiential.

House of Circles embodies an architecture that listens—to climate, to context, and to time—offering a sustainable, responsive home that remains rooted in its landscape while evolving with the lives it shelters.
